The Australian Communications and Media Authority has directed internet service providers to restrict access to 12 additional unlicensed gambling and affiliate marketing websites. This enforcement action continues the regulator’s campaign to ensure compliance with the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
Targeted Platforms and Market Constraints
The newly blocked services include 7Signs, ChromaBet, Donbet, Duospin, Freshbet, Slots Gem, Jacks Club, Lucky Start, Pointsbetz.com, Spinrise, Vinyl Casino and Wildsino. ACMA highlighted Pointsbetz.com for replicating the visual identity of the licensed PointsBet service, a strategy frequently used by offshore operators to attract Australian players through familiar branding. The regulator notes that while these platforms may appear legitimate, they often lack essential consumer protections, leaving bettors vulnerable to financial losses and unresolved disputes. Network-level blocking faces structural constraints, as operators routinely migrate to new domains and expand outreach through social media, affiliate networks and streaming platforms such as Kick and TikTok. According to a 2025 report by H2 Gambling Capital, commissioned by Responsible Wagering Australia, Australian players lose approximately AU$3.9 billion ($2.7 billion) annually to unlicensed operators, with market channelisation declining from 74 percent in 2021 to 64 percent. The regulatory framework will shift further when the Albanese government’s advertising restrictions take effect in January 2027, introducing spending caps and placement bans across television, radio and digital channels.Since November 2019, the authority has blocked 1,751 illegal gambling and affiliate sites, while more than 230 unlicensed services have withdrawn from the Australian market since 2017. Earlier this year, ACMA ordered the blocking of eight additional platforms, including Lucky Mate, Vegastars, Wombet, Cosmobet, Fortune Play, Fortunica, Rolletto and Velobet, which raised the cumulative total to 1,518 at that stage.
