On July 13, 2026, the Canadian province of Alberta officially launched its regulated online casino and mobile sports betting market. The new framework allows digital gaming operators to conduct business within the province under a unified regulatory system.
Market Regulation and Projections
The new market is overseen by the Alberta iGaming Corporation, while the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis agency serves as the primary regulator. Service Alberta Minister Dale Nally projected that the sector could generate $76 million in revenue during its first year of operation. At least 46 operators have confirmed their participation in the launch.Operator Launches and Partnerships
DraftKings and FanDuel were among the first to announce their readiness for the Alberta launch. DraftKings is introducing its sportsbook, casino, and Golden Nugget Online Gaming brand, marking its 34th North American jurisdiction. FanDuel is also launching its casino and sportsbook platforms while establishing a partnership with Light & Wonder to bring the "Huff 'N' Puff" slot franchise to the region.FanDuel announced financial contributions to local organizations, including a $50,000 donation to the A Dollar A Day Foundation for mental health programs and $30,000 to the Canada Red Cross Emergency Management Program. Other confirmed participants in the new market include Delta Casino and Betty.
This launch marks the second time a Canadian region has provided a regulated market for online gaming. Ontario established the first legal framework for the sector in 2022.
