EveryMatrix has released a white paper detailing four distinct categories of bonus abuse in the online gaming sector. The report, authored by Tetiana Dychenko and Stian Enger Pettersen, highlights a shift from isolated player behavior to coordinated syndicate operations.
The analysis classifies abusers into solo bonus hunters, sports traders, insiders, and syndicates. Solo hunters rely on temporary accounts, multi-accounting, and wagering loopholes. Sports traders use automated betting scripts and cross-book hedging to secure risk-free returns.
Insiders manipulate marketing metrics through traffic laundering, fake conversions, and referral farming. Syndicates operate at an industrial level, employing bot networks, IP farming, and identity spoofing to bypass detection systems.
Rising Fraud Rates and Syndicate Operations
Industry data indicates that iGaming fraud rates doubled between 2023 and 2025, with 83% of professionals noting increased activity over the prior year. Europol identifies fraud schemes as the fastest-growing segment of organized crime. Tetiana Dychenko, chief technical officer for casino at EveryMatrix, states that abuse is now highly organized and built to scale.
"These are no longer isolated individuals acting alone," she notes. "They are coordinated groups with dedicated teams constantly monitoring promotions, probing for vulnerabilities, and rapidly exploiting any weakness they uncover. The moment a loophole is identified, whether in bonus terms, game mechanics, or onboarding processes, the information spreads quickly across the network.
