Ratmir Ronami, Vice President of Ligastavki, stated that the Russian betting sector is currently undergoing significant consolidation. He confirmed that market turnover is increasingly concentrating within a small group of leading operators.
Market Adaptation and Competition
Ronami noted that the industry has successfully adapted to increased tax burdens and regulatory changes, although competition has intensified. He explained that the market is moving toward a scenario where three to five major players will control the majority of turnover. "We are gradually moving towards a situation where almost all turnover will be controlled by three to five largest players," Ronami said.
"Now there is a fight for every client, so the strongest will survive."
Outlook for World Cup 2026
Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, company representatives project a 10 to 20 percent increase in betting volume compared to the 2022 tournament. This growth is attributed to the expanded number of matches in the upcoming format. Additionally, Ligastavki anticipates a 15 to 20 percent rise in the active user base, driven by marketing campaigns associated with the championship.
Operational strategies are also shifting regarding financial allocation. Operators are currently reducing overall marketing expenditures to prioritize customer retention. Funds are being redirected toward gamification features and core product development rather than broad acquisition campaigns.
